FREE workshops for Blyth Primary Schools

Headway Arts would like to offer Blyth based primary schools with an opportunity to get involved in two festivals in Blyth over the coming months, supported by Blyth Town Council.

Headway Arts (established 1995) are a registered charity based in Blyth providing high quality, creative, arts participation opportunities for people in Northumberland and the wider region. They have particular expertise in working with young people and specifically those who have special needs and a learning difficulty or disability.

The first is the Autumn Festival from 1st – 3rd November on Blyth Quayside with the theme of Scarecrows. Headway Arts have been commissioned to create a series of large scale Scarecrow figures and would like to offer three schools from Blyth two FREE days of workshops with artists to create the figures for this event.

Workshops will take place the week of the 14th October and 21st October. Suitable for 20-30 children per day aged 5-11 or mixed age groups.

The second event is the Winter Festival which also takes place in November. Headway Arts would like to offer two schools with two days of FREE workshops linked to this festival to create lanterns for a parade. The workshops would be aimed at Years 5 or 6 (20-30 children per day.) There will be a parade for those children with their lanterns to coincide with the switching on of the lights on Sunday the 24th November. Workshops will take place in the weeks 11th and 18th November.

We are offering the workshops on a first come first served basis.
